On-Page SEO is about optimizing your website to ensure your content ranks. It considers all of the changes you make to your website that are visible and noticeable to your visitors, and it’s a reminder that simply creating and posting content isn’t enough.
Here’s a list of ten on-page SEO elements:
To clarify the matter, let’s take a brief look at other types of SEO. Although some elements overlap with different sections, we generally break them up into three areas: on-page, off-page, and technical, and now we’ll take a look at Off-page SEO and Technical SEO:
Unlike On-Page SEO, Off-Page SEO deals with SEO elements that visitors to your site don’t always see or notice; this includes sharing the website on social channels and external linking, among other things. The visitor to your site won’t notice any difference in how they interact with your material, but the site will rank much higher in search engines with appropriate attention to Off-Page SEO.
In addition to On-Page and Off-Page SEO, technical SEO includes more data-centred elements such as site speed and mobile responsiveness. Various technical SEO problems cover broken links, redirects, and the 404 page. Website Grader is an excellent tool that identifies parts of a website that need attention.
This post is about On-Page SEO, though, so now we’ll focus on that. After defining what On-Page SEO is, it’s time to look into its importance.
On-Page SEO essentially manages and defines the relationship between your website and Google. By optimizing your site, you improve the conversation between Google and your website, raising the chances of allowing your target audience to see your content.
Quality content is the driving force of On-Page SEO because that’s what informs search engines and potential visitors to your website what you do. Every piece of content begins with keyphrase research. You can research by Googling relevant terms and scrolling to the foot of the first page for related searches. For example, I tried it with the title for this post – What is On-Page SEO? – and got the following results:
The ‘related searches’ provide several valuable alternative keyphrases and keywords that you can use in your current and future posts on the topic. You can then take your research to a tool such as SEMRush for keyword analysis.
Using a tool such as SEMRush, you can dive into each keyword to see how difficult it will be to rank for, and it will also provide you with a large number of keyword variations. After analysis, you will find the best keywords for your content.
By considering the stage at which your content shows in the buyer’s journey, you will understand what content you need to create and how to use your keyphrases and keywords with more impact.
Awareness: Create blog posts, social media posts, video content, and content for the homepage of your website.
Consideration: Create buyer’s guides, case studies, and content for the about page of your website.
Decision: Create product demos, comparison tools, and content for your website’s product or service pages. Also, consider your contact page.
When you have selected your subject and keywords and then identified your readers’ intent, you are ready to begin crafting the quality content that will help your content rank higher and attract more visitors to your site.
On-Page SEO can become an overwhelming task. If you’re reading this post, then you’ve probably read many more SEO posts online, each with unique tips, tricks, and advice. Something that can help you get out of the research phase and start putting your ideas into a solid plan is an On-Page SEO template.
A template can be more thorough than a checklist because you must manually enter your process without skipping a section. Templates can help you organize your On-Page SEO strategy, coordinate pages and keyphrases, and track changes in the same place. The template is essentially a blueprint of the web page that gives it the best chance of ranking well on search.
An additional benefit of using such a template is planning your SEO, enabling you to create and stick to a clear-defined and holistic SEO strategy. The template also breaks down the enormous task of optimizing the SEO of a website into digestible step-by-step actions.
Hubspot’s SEO template, for example, includes tabs that ask you to consider the primary purpose of the page, the target audience, and your CTAs.
